Car sales rose in October

The number of new cars sold in the Netherlands in October rose 37% compared with the year-earlier period.

However, over the ten months of 2013 so far, sales are down 10% on the previous year.

Orders only began picking up in September, according to the Telegraaf. In October, 36,764 new cars left the showrooms, compared with 26,786 in October 2012.

According to the paper, car dealers’ order books are showing a gradual increase, giving rise to optimism about sales figures for November and December.
