Supermarkets want to stop paying weekend, evening bonuses

Supermarkets want extra payments for Sunday, holiday and evening work to be included in the new round of pay talks for the sector, news agency ANP reports.

Eventually, extra payments should only be made for distribution centre staff who work from midnight to 04.00 hours, the supermarkets say.

Union spokesman Fedde Monsma said the employers have been pressing to an end for bonuses for some time but the issue has been made more urgent by the latest price war.
