Rwandan national arrested in Holland for deportation

A Rwandan national who lives in the Netherlands has been arrested and faces deportation to Rwanda for genocide.

Jean-Claude I, 37, is suspected of involvement in the Rwandan massacres of 1994 in which up to one million people are thought to have died.

This is the first time the Netherlands has attempted to deport someone to Rwanda. The case will be heard on October 8.

He has not faced charges in the Netherlands because of a lack of evidence, Nos television reported.

Two other Rwandan nationals have been jailed in the Netherlands for crimes relating to the 1994 masssacres, one of whom had Dutch nationality.
