Police arrest known offender for Russian break-in

Police in The Hague have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with last week’s break-in at a building owned by the Russian embassy.

The property is lived in by embassy personnel and was once used by the Russian secret service KGB, Nos television said.

The man is said to have entered through the front door and to have stolen several personal items from one of the residents.

‘This man has had frequent police contact in connection with burglaries and break-ins,’ a police spokesman said.

The incident happened the day after a Dutch diplomat was attacked at his home in Moscow by two men, leading to fears the two events were related.
