More people in difficulty with mortgage repayments

The number of people in difficulty with their mortgage repayments is still increasing, according to the latest mortgage barometer from national debt register BKR.

Over the past six months, the number of households in mortgage debt has risen by 10,000, bringing the total to 91,000. People are considered to be in difficulty when they have not paid their mortgage for four months or more.

The BKR does say the increase has slowed, from 13.2% in the previous mortgage barometer to 12.1% in this latest edition.
