Fire chief steps down after ‘rhetorical’ anti-Wilders tweet

A fire brigade commander from Zeeland has stepped down temporarily from his post after sending out a tweet asking if it would be an option to ‘put down’ PVV leader Geert Wilders.

Cor Bos has since deleted the tweet and said in an apology that it was a ‘rhetorical question’. Bos’s commander will take a decision on possible sanctions against him next week, Nos television said.

Bos hit the headlines earlier this year by asking if a ‘good fire’ in the television studio of populist broadcaster Pownews might solve its rudeness towards Almere mayor Annemarie Jorritsma.
