Dutch find it very tricky to fill in their tax returns

Despite efforts by the Dutch tax office to make it easier to file a tax return, people still find it very complicated, according to an international survey by Deloitte.

While the Netherlands is advanced in terms of online and automised tax returns, taxpayers regard it as ‘very tricky’ to complete the process, the survey of 34 countries found. In most other countries, taxpayers said filling in the form is ‘neutral’ or ‘slightly complicated’.

The Netherlands is also one of the most generous countries in giving more time to taxpayers who don’t meet the April 1 deadline, Deloitte said.
