Donor Week delivers over 31,000 new registrations

In total, 31,285 people have signed the organ donors register since the start of Donor Week on October 14, the organisers said on Sunday.

Of them, 94% have agreed to donate their organs after their death which is a ‘fantastic result’ the organisers said.

The announcement was made prior to the start of the Donor Run, an eight-km event which is part of Amsterdam’s marathon and includes people with donor organs running in relay.

In total, some 5.7 million people in the Netherlands have registered their choice, of whom 3.5 million have agreed to be donors.
