Budget deal boosts coalition parties

The budget agreement sealed between the coalition and three opposition parties last week has boosted the fortunes of both ruling parties and the D66 Liberal democrats in the polls.

Both the VVD and Labour (PvdA) are up three seats (2%) in the latest Ipsos poll, giving them 18.6% and 13.3% of the vote respectively. The gain puts the VVD two seats ahead of the anti-immigration PVV, which is down one seat at 26, or 17.3%.

The Liberal democratic party D66, the main supporter of the agreement, is up two seats at 22, making it the third largest party with 14.7% support.

Support for 50Plus plunged by five seats to just four, following the departure of its leader Henk Krol over claims he failed to pay pensions premiums for staff.
