Interactive map shows 9,866,539 buildings by age

A developer at Amsterdam’s Waag Society, an institute for art, science and technology, has produced an interactive map showing the Netherlands’ 9,866,539 buildings according to their age.

The map was produced by developer Bert Spaan and ‘gives us a complete new image of the country,’ the Waag Society said.

Buildings are shaded according to their age, ranging from relatively young (in blue, built after 1960) to very old (in red).

The map, which uses city council-collected data, is part of the European CitySDK project which aims to use openly-available information to boost participation, mobility and tourism in various cities in Europe.
