Former Dutch queen Beatrix breaks cheekbone in a fall
Princess Beatrix, the former Dutch queen, has undergone surgery after she fell and broke a cheekbone, the state information service RVD said at the weekend.
Beatrix, 75, was operated on on Sunday and will remain in hospital for several days. She will then recuperate at home.
The former queen abdicated in favour of her son Willem-Alexander on April 30. Her next public appearance is slated for October 1.
