No Borders camp arrives in Rotterdam

Dozens of activists are putting up tents in Rotterdam ahead of a week-long demonstration against the ‘control of migrants within and on the borders of Europe’.

The No Border Camp 2013 is being erected on derelict ground on the corner of the Oranjeboomstraat and the Nassaukade in Rotterdam-South.

The organisers are expecting several hundred activists to join them now the location of the camp, which had been kept secret, is known.

Local police have visited the campsite and are turning a blind eye ‘for now’. Rotterdam council says illegal camping is not allowed in the city.
