Heptathlon bronze for Dafne Schippers at world championships

Dutch heptathlete Dafne Schippers took the bronze medal at the athletics world championships in Moscow on Tuesday night, setting a new Dutch record in the process.

Schippers’ bronze was the first Dutch medal of the championships and she also became the first Dutch woman to win a medal in a world athletics event, news agency Novum said.

The gold medal went to Ganna Melnichenko from Ukraine, silver to Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Canada.
