Unilever boosts turnover and profit in first half

Food-to-detergent group Unilever booked a 0.4% increase in turnover to €25.5bn and a 14% rise in operating profit to €3.9bn in the first half of 2013, the company announced on Thursday.

Much of the growth came from Asia and the personal care division, the company said in a statement. In particular, brands such as Dove, Omo and Vaseline have a prominent position in a number of markets.

‘These results clearly demonstrate the transformation of Unilever to a sustainable growth company is fully on track,’ CEO Paul Polman said in the statement.
