Millions paid in hospital pay-offs again

Hospitals paid out around €3m in golden handshakes to 12 departing managers last year, according to trade magazine Medisch Contact.

The average pay-off rose 29% to €300,000. The magazine says this amount is remarkable because of spending cuts in healthcare and the law limiting pay-offs to a maximum of €75,000.

Top of the list is Emile Lohman, former manager at the university medical centre St Radboud in Nijmegen. He received €660,000.
