75% of us visit our doctor and dentist (at least) once a year

Seven out of 10 people in the Netherlands visit their doctor once a year, and eight out of 10 make an annual trip to the dentist, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.

On average, people make four visits a year to their family doctor, but taking the ageing population into account, this has fallen slightly since 2002, the CBS said.

More women than men visit their doctor at least once (77% compared with 66%). This is because women live longer than men and have to deal with typical women’s health issues, the researchers said.
