Three-star restaurant Oud Sluis to close at the end of this year

Three-star restaurant Oud Sluis is closing its doors at the end of this year, owner and chef Sergio Herman announced on Monday.

‘I have reached my limit both literally and figuratively,’ Herman said in an interview on the restaurant’s website.

‘For 25 years I’ve arrived here early in the morning and left late at night. I gave everything, both physically and emotionally…we started with nothing.’

Oud Sluis is one of two Dutch three-star restaurants. The other is De Librije in Zwolle.

Other businesses

Herman now plans to focus on his other enterprises, Pure C in Cadzand and La Chapelle in Antwerp, as well as his culinary publishing company Minestrone.

A waiting list has been opened for people who still wish to eat in Oud Sluis before it closes its doors.

In March, Amsterdam top chef Ron Blaauw closed his two-star restaurant, saying he wanted to return to a simpler, more affordable concept.
