Fewer traffic jams in first four months

The length of traffic jams in the Netherlands fell by 5.6% in the first four months of this year, according to new figures from transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen.

The number of kilometres travelled by vehicles fell by just 0.5% over the same period. This shows that measures to tackle traffic blackspots and use special rush-hour lanes more efficiently are having a positive impact, the ministry report said.
