Dutchman in intensive care with rabies
A 52-year-old Dutchman is being treated in hospital for rabies, according to press reports.
The man, who is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Amsterdam medical centre, was bitten by a dog in May in Haiti. He treated the wound with water and alcohol and only became ill on his return to the Netherlands a month ago.
