‘ABN Amro is ready to be privatised’

Nationalised bank ABN Amro is ready to be once again listed on the stock exchange, chief executive Gerrit Zalm told a television talk show on Wednesday evening.

‘It is now up to the minister to decide,’ Zalm told the Knevel en Van den Brink show. ‘We are profitable and we made considerable profit in 2012 which was a difficult year. Our capital base is in order, so we can be listed.’

ABN Amro was nationalised in 2008 and 2014 is seen as the most likely year for an IPO.
