Missing lottery millionaire turns up

The winner of a €2m lottery prize has finally come forward to claim his winnings, five months after his ticket came up, news agency ANP reports.

The man from Groningen discovered he was a winner in the December 10 draw at the beginning of this week, after the lottery organisers launched a media hunt.

‘The man saw the notice in the newspaper and looked among his papers for the ticket. To his surprise, he was the winner,’ a lottery spokeswoman said.

A winning ticket remains valid for a year, but the lottery organisers say it is extremely rare for a big winner not to come forward immediately.
