Two jailed for Amsterdam shooting and court grenade attack

Two men have been jailed for 15 years and five years for a multiple shooting incident at the end of 2011 and firing a grenade at an Amsterdam court building in September 2011.

York T was given 15 years for his role in the attacks, while accomplice Omar T was given five years. The sentences are in line with public prosecution demands.

The shooting took place three months after the attack on the court and led to a 17-year-old youth being seriously hurt.

The attack on the court took place during the night of September 21. The grenade made a small hole in the wall of the court complex but the noise of the blast shattered several windows. The motive for the attack is still unclear, news agency ANP said.
