Two Belgians in Eindhoven beating case can be deported

Two Belgian youths caught on camera beating up a man in Eindhoven earlier this year can be deported, a court in Antwerp said on Thursday.

The youths are part of a gang of eight filmed by surveillance cameras attacking a 22-year-old man in Eindhoven on January 4. The case caused a major stir in the Netherlands after the film was shown on a television crime show.

Last month, the Dutch public prosecution department withdrew the extradition request against three of the five youths who live in Belgium because they were not directly involved. The three others live in the Netherlands and had turned themselves in to the Dutch authorities.

One of the two Belgian youths, named as Brent L, is 17 and a minor in Belgian law, the Telegraaf said. He is appealing against the deportation order.
