Singer Gerard Joling among this year’s Queen’s Day honours

In total 3,016 people appear in this year’s Queen’s Day honours list, including television presenter Jack van Gelder and singer Gerard Joling.

Of the awards, 1,041 went to women. The oldest female and male recipients were both born in 1917. Maria Tesselaar from Heiloo was a foster mother and volunteer, while Peter de Bruijn from Kerkrade was active in a combined church choir.

Nominations for honours are made via local mayors and nine out of 10 recommendations are approved, RTL said.
