Nos gets ready for 14 hours of royal programming on April 30

Nos television will carry 14 hours of royal-related programming on April 30 when queen Beatrix steps down as monarch and her oldest son Willem-Alexander takes over.

The day’s televised events include queen Beatrix signing the act of abdication, the royal family’s balcony appearance, the inauguration in the Nieuwe Kerk and the IJ river trip in the early evening.

The countdown to the investiture of king Willem-Alexander will start on April 17 when Nos and RTL news broadcast a joint interview with Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima.

Then, on April 26, the public broadcaster transmits a portrait of queen Beatrix, using commentary by the queen herself, compiled from old interviews.

Beatrix’ last public engagement as queen will be opening the Constantijn and Christiaan Huygens exhibition at the Grote Kerk in The Hague on April 24, Nos television said.
