New asylum claims drop below 10,000
Fewer than 10,000 people applied for refugee status in the Netherlands last year, a drop of 15% on 2011, junior justice minister Fred Teeven said.
In total, 9,819 asylum seekers arrived in the Netherlands. This means the Netherlands has gone down from 7th to 8th place in terms of popularity within the EU.
