Justin Bieber to make dance talent show with Dutch tv producer: AD

Dutch television production company Eyeworks will work with teen sensation Justin Bieber on a new dance competition show, the AD reports on Tuesday.

The AD says Eyeworks director Reinout Oerlemans broke the news during the Cannes television festival MIPtv.

Dance or no Dance is a talent contest dreamed up by Bieber who had been looking for a production house to develop the project, Oerlemans is quoted as saying. The aim is to roll out the show internationally.

Money prizes

Dance or no Dance will involve couples – from beginners to experts – competing against each other in specific genres for cash. The twist is that they will be able to chose their opponents on the basis of earlier performances.

‘It is fantastic that we are going to make a programme with possibly the most popular entertainer in the world,’ Oerlemans told the AD. ‘I have not met Bieber personally but I have agreed everything with his management team.’

Oerlemans will make the first presentations of the new format to interested broadcasters during today’s session in Cannes, the AD said.

Prize

Also in Cannes, it was announced that Entertainment Experience, a Dutch digital programme won the non-fiction category in this year’s Digital Emmy awards.

The show, produced for cable company Ziggo, followed the development and production process of a user-generated movie by Hollywood director Paul Verhoeven.
