Dutch privacy watchdog one of six investigating Google
Dutch privacy watchdog CBP is one of six European bodies which have launched a coordinated investigation into privacy issues at internet company Google.
The CBP and its peers in Britain, Spain, Italy, France and Germany last year ordered Google to amend its privacy regulations and provide users with improved information about what it does with their details. Google was given four months to make the changes or face further action.
The six countries have now decided to formally investigate Google for breaking European privacy regulations.
According to the Financial Times, European watchdogs can currently only impose fines below €1m. However, new rules could soon enable them to impose penalities of up to 2% of global annual turnover.
