Thieves use explosives to attack Brink’s office, police car fired at

Armed robbers used explosives to blow their way into an office of money transport company Brink’s in the Noord-Brabant town of Best on Wednesday evening.

The gang blasted out a side door to the building at around 23.00 hours while there were still personnel on site. No-one was injured in the raid, Nos television reported. On Thursday morning, it was unclear how many robbers were involved or how much money they made off with.

The robbers had left behind a small quantity of explosives, news agency ANP said.

Shortly afterwards, a police car in the neighbourhood which was following a suspicious car was shot at by an automatic weapon. ‘There were a lot of bullets,’ a spokesman is quoted as saying by Nos.

The N379 road between Eersel and Bergeijk remained closed on Thursday morning as the investigation continued.

The police car gave up the chase after the shooting and police have declined to say if they think the attack was connected to the money transport raid.

Last April, robbers used explosives to rob the offices of Group 4 Security in Nieuwegein and shot at police as they made their getaway.
