New weather record set – longest non-stop rain

A new weather record was set in the Netherlands on Saturday when it rained at the national weather centre in De Bilt near Hilversum for 24 hours non-stop.

It is the first time since records began that it has rained for at least 24 hours in De Bilt, forecaster Weeronline.nl said.

The previous record dates from January 1960 when it stopped raining for just 30 minutes.
