Legal system website failed to fudge child pornography links

The Dutch legal system’s formal website rechtspraak.nl has for years failed to hide direct links to child pornography websites, despite official guidelines, according to television current affairs show EenVandaag.

The section of the site listing legal judgements contained the specific names of websites where child porn can be found, EenVandaag said. Courts are supposed to make such links anonymous but in at least 80 verdicts have failed to do so.

Arnhem court was the worst offender with at least nine verdicts not meeting guidelines, the programme said. In one case, there were 45 child porn files listed.

The High Court itself had failed to make four verdicts fully anonymous, the programme said.

The website operators say they are shocked by the discovery and are now taking steps to ensure all 250,000 cases on the website meet the guidelines.
