Extradition request dropped for three of the Eindhoven five

The Dutch public prosecution department has dropped its extradition request for three of the Belgian youngsters wanted in connection with an attack on an Eindhoven man in January.

The attack was captured on security cameras and caused an outcry when broadcast on a crime-stopping television programme. No reason was given for dropping the demand, news agency ANP said.

Three of the eight youths filmed attacking a 22-year-old man reported to Dutch police and two remain in custody. Five others, who live in Belgium, were arrested and two still face deportation. However, the Belgian courts have not yet taken a final decision on the request.
