Eindhoven paper says Philip Cocu will succeed Advocaat at PSV

Eindhoven newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad is reporting that former Dutch international Philip Cocu will take over from Dick Advocaat as PSV’s chief coach next season.

Cocu is currently assistant coach at the premier division side. Advocaat’s contract expires at the end of this season but he has so far refused to comment about his future plans.

PSV has not commented on the claim. According to BNR radio, the club is waiting for contracts to be signed before going public.

Advocaat has said he will leave PSV if the Eindhoven team fails to win the championship. PSV is one point behind league leader Ajax.

Cocu had 101 caps for Oranje and played for PSV between 1995 and 1998 and from 2004 to 2007. PSV took the league title in 2007 thanks to a Cocu goal.
