Two Oranje newcomers for friendly against Italy

Ajax’s Daley Blind and Benefica’s Ola John will play their debut matches for Oranje in Wednesday night’s friendly against Italy.

Blind, son of coach Louis van Gaal’s assistant Danny Blind, will start as left back. The rest of the defence is made up of keeper Tim Krul plus Daryl Janmaat, Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan de Vrij.

Jordy Clasie, Adam Maher and Kevin Strootman make up the midfield and John is joined by Robin van Persie and Jeremain Lens in the attack.

‘I know I have opted for an inexperienced team, but nevertheless, I think these lads can beat a very strong opponent like Italy,’ Van Gaal told reporters.
