Refugees plan musical protest in the Paradiso

A group of failed asylum seekers, who are living in a former church in the west of Amsterdam, are holding a concert in the city’s Paradiso venue to raise awareness of their situation.

Some 100 people from at least 15 different nationalities have been living in the church after they were ordered to leave an impromptu campsite in the city at the end of November.

The refugees, under the name Here We Are, will provide the opening act for Malian singer Salif Keita who is performing at the Amsterdam venue on February 10. They come from Ivory Coast, Sudan, Guinea and Kenya.
