Police investing death of boy seal off Wassenaar woods again

Friday 08 February 2013

Police investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy from Wassenaar have sealed off the area of woods where his body was found for a second time, according to media reports on Friday.

The body of Anass Aouragh was found on Thursday. He was reported missing on Wednesday after failing to return home from a job delivering leaflets.

His bike was found abandoned close to the woods, leading police to launch the original search.

According to the Telegraaf, the second search has been prompted by a tip-off. The cause of death has not yet been made public but police said they are not ruling out a crime.

The first para is very confusing - makes it sound as if his *body* had been found for a second time.

'Police investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy from Wassenaar have, for a second time, sealed off the area of woods where his body was found, according to media reports on Friday.' would be better.

@ woods. I understand what you're saying. But your version omits the fact it's the second time around, which is what the article is about.
It's a simple case of bad punctuation. It should read "...woods, where his body was found, for a second time...". Two commas would have done it.

woods, you are so right, that is what I read. I also first read the title, thought maybe the Wassenaar woods were on the coast and that the police were investigating a boy seal!

Much as I normally love a good bitch about grammar and punctuation (or lack of it), in this case I have a bad taste in my mouth. Here we have a news item about a young boy who has tragically lost his life, yet the only responses to this article concern its ambiguity and dodgy punctuation.
