MPs to vote next week on sanctioning advisory referendums
Wednesday 06 February 2013
Parliament will next week vote on a motion backed by the three left-wing parties which calls for the introduction of advisory referendums.
The proposal has been gathering dust for three years but now Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-immigration PVV, is forcing through a vote.
According to news agency ANP, Wilders wants to use the proposal to force a referendum on the Netherlands membership of the EU. He wants the country to pull out.
