Limburg to invest €43m in Chemelot industrial estate

Limburg’s provincial government has agreed to pump €43.5m into the Chemelot Campus, an industrial estate for chemical companies and research institutes close to Sittard.

The council says the project is developing faster than expected and it has stepped in to help with the financing following banks’ reluctance to get involved.

The new cash comes on top of a €55m provincial investment last year. The council hopes the expansion will lead to the creation of 1,000 new jobs.

In total, 57 companies are based on the campus and 1,200 people work there.
