Schiphol airport processes record number of passengers

Some 51 million passengers moved through Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport last year, an increase of 2.6% on 2011, chief executive Jos Nijhuis said on Monday evening.

However, freight volumes fell 3% to 1.5 million tonnes, Nijhuis said. The number of aircraft movements (take-offs and landings) rose 0.8% to 423,000.
The aircraft authority forecasts a slight increase again this year.
Ten years ago, Schiphol passed the 40 million passenger mark.
