Rotterdam trade schools plan to merge and break up

Two of Rotterdam’s biggest trade schools plan to merge and break up into seven smaller and more focused vocational training colleges, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Wednesday.

The Zadkine and Albeda mbo college groups say changing the way their education is organised will better meet the wishes of employers and reduce bureaucracy.
Each school group currently has some 19,000 students and a combined workforce of 3,500.
The new government is keen to bring back smaller schools. ‘What we are doing now recognises the fact we went too far in developing complex organisations,’ Anja van Gorsel, head of the Albeda College group, told the paper.
