Money to boost nursing levels 'spent on managers'

Saturday 19 January 2013

Millions of euros allocated by the previous government to boost staffing levels for care of the elderly was actually spent on managers, management training courses and software, the AD reported at the weekend.

The last cabinet put an extra €370m into increasing the number of ‘hands on beds’ but research by the FNV trade union indicates no reduction in the pressure of front-line work, the AD said.

Some 70% of the 1,800 nursing staff questioned said they had not seen any increase in staffing levels last year. And 75% said they had been told by bosses that further economies needed to be made.

MPs have called on junior health minister Martin van Rijn to investigate.

It sure would be nice if they investigate and more important do something about it.

That's just despicable! Greedy thieving managers, I don't know how they can look at themselves. I can't believe the government doesn't do a better job of supervising how the money is spent. If I were them, I'd ask for it back, with interest. But then again, they'd give it back, but at the expense of the elderly...

Yes, the staff was still overstretched, but they were surely much better managed.
And think of those poor stressed out managers, don't they deserve some extra help?
Maybe they need someone to bring them coffee or rub their tired feet.

Money to boost nursing levels 'spent on managers'. This is another example of not only government but private contractors having no accountancy. My envious to get “stichtingbudget” Haarlem to conform to article 110 of your law and give accountancy just give a blank refusal.

Misappropriation of funds is theft. It is high time these white collar criminals got allocated cells in her majesty's prisons.
