The cabinet is to press ahead with its plans to phase out student grants, despite the lack of support in the upper house of parliament, RTL news reports.
The broadcaster says the plans will be debated by the cabinet on Friday, on the basis of a policy document drawn up by education minister Jet Bussemaker.
The Liberal-Labour government wants to replace all grants by loans, although the very poorest students would still get some help. The aim is to introduce the change from September 2014, despite the lack of majority support in the senate.
