KPN starts 4G mobile internet roll-out in Amsterdam

Telecoms group KPN is to introduce launch subscriptions for its next generation mobile internet network from next month, the company said on Tuesday.

The Amsterdam region will kick off the 4G roll-out, which will operate all over the country next year, KPN said.
KPN paid over €1.4bn to buy the faster 4G frequencies at the government auction at the end of last year.
KPN, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Tele-2 all won 17-year licences to operate the new services. Tele2 is a new player and will be able to roll out its own network. Cable companies Ziggo and UPC dropped out of the auction, saying the prices were too high.
