Intercity train fire probably a short circuit

The fire on an intercity train earlier this week was probably caused by a short circuit, not fireworks, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

The fire disrupted train services between Amsterdam and Utrecht for several hours.
Three young men were arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze by lighting fireworks after passengers reported hearing a loud bang. They were released from police custody on Thursday after spending a night in jail.
The three men, aged 21 and 22 and named as Darryl, Redouan en Jochem, are now looking into possible compensation claims. ‘We helped evacuate the train… and then we were suddenly arrested,’ Redouan told RTV Utrecht.
‘It was only the next day we heard that we were being painted as criminals,’ he said. ‘That is the worst thing, and we did not even get an apology. We were just told we could go.’
