Dutch film less popular in 2012

Although more Dutch films were produced in 2012, they attracted fewer cinema goers, according to film institute figures.

The number of people going to see a Dutch language film fell by nearly 27%, but this is partly due to the lack of blockbusters last year, Nos television said on Tuesdsay.
Overall, the number of cinema seats sold last year rose by 0.6% to 30.6 million, boosted by an increase in the number of cinema screens. Eleven new complexes with 60 screens opened last year.
The biggest film of the year was the James Bond film Skyfall, which attracted 1.9 million visitors, followed by French hit Intouchables on 1.2 million. Alles is Familie was the highest Dutch film in the list in eighth place with over 640,000 tickets sold.
