Dutch artist attempts to register Allah as a trademark

A Dutch artist is attempting to register the name ‘Allah’ as a trademark with the Benelux intellectual property office in The Hague, the Telegraaf reported on Monday.

Amsterdammer Teun Castelein told the paper it is an ‘incredibly beautiful name’ and that he is surprised no-one has registered the name before.
However, the 32-year-old’s €250 efforts to exploit the name Allah are likely to fail. According to the registration document seen by DutchNews.nl, the application has been tagged ‘preliminary decision to refuse’.
