Council falls foul of media giant Talpa over talent show plans

A local council in Noord Holland is to be told by media giant Talpa it is breaking copyright rules by holding a talent contest using the same concept as the Voice of Holland television show.
Hollands Kroon was planning to use the Voice of Holland system to find new trainees, but has fallen foul of entertainment production company Talpa, the Noordhollands Dagblad reported.
‘We are going to point out to them this is not allowed,’ a Talpa spokesman said. ‘They need a lawyer up there who understands copyright.’
Like the television show, Hollands Kroon had been planning to have its selection board seated on red chairs with their backs to candidates. The job hopefuls would then have two minutes to present themselves. If the judges turned round, the candidates would be through to the next round.
The council is planning to hold the contest mid-January at the town hall, in front of the general public.
