Thursday 31 January 2013
Anne Vegter has been appointed the new Dichter des Vaderlands, or Poet Laureate, replacing Ramsey Nasr who has been in the role for four years.
Vegter, 54, is from Rotterdam and is the first woman to hold the title.
A prize-winning children's author, Vegter turned to poetry in 1991 with the publication of Het Veerde.
The title Dichter des Vaderlands is an initiative of the NRC newspaper, broadcaster NPS and the Poetry International foundation.
