Wednesday 23 January 2013

The number of personal and company bankruptcies rose 18% last year to  11,235, compared with 2011, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.

The previous record dates back to 2009, when over 10,500 companies and individuals went bust.

The number of companies going bankrupt rose 19% with the sharpest rise - 29% - among one-man operations. The most vulnerable firms were in the trade and construction sectors.
