Youths arrested at memorial for teen shot dead by police

Some 20 youths were arrested at Hollands Spoor railway station early on Sunday evening after refusing to end a memorial meeting for a youth shot dead by police last month.


The 17-year-old teenager, Rishi Chandrikasing, was killed in the early hours of the morning on November 25 after police received reports that an armed man had been seen in the station. The youth was later found to be unarmed.
A group of some 25 friends had gathered at the station to light candles and lay flowers at the spot where he was shot.
According to nu.nl, they were arrested after refusing the leave the station at 17.00 when ordered to do so by transport police. They are also accused of spraying graffiti on station property.
